........It Too Late to Apologize....

The day Paris Hilton becomes a nun (a real one, not a slutty one for Halloween) is the day I vote for John MCcain. I will never vote for him. Never.

First and foremost, our politics don't match. I'm pro-choice, for universal health care, I'm against the teaching of intelligent design in public schools, I am for civil rights for all and civil liberties, and I'm generally anti-war. McCain is the total opposite of me and honestly, the only issue where we might agree is global warming. Although, I don't know if he actually believes in it or if he's just trying to attract independent voters.

There's also the fact that he has poor judgment as a politician and as a man. Up until 2001, he publicly and unapologetically used the racist slur "Gook" when referring to his Vietnamese torturers. Out of all of the insulting terms he could have used like assholes, fuckers, bastards..he chose to use a derogatory term that offensively described their race. If the war had been in Africa and his torturers were black, would he dare call them "The N******"? He wouldn't.

I have been called a gook and it obviously wasn't a pleasant experience. The kid who called me it was some junkie gangsta wannabe whose parents never taught him any better. I don't condone it, but I understand how an ignorant asshole like him can spew vile language. But McCain publicly and unapologetically used this racist epithet for years. Despite his ignorant excuse for it, the rest of world knows that it is used to describe and denigrate ALL Asians. And unlike that loser who used it against me, John McCain wasn't/isn't some stupid-constantly-high-kid, he's a grown man. He was actually brought up to and is old enough to "know better" and yet, he doesn't.

I respect his service and the sacrifice he made for this country but I will never respect him as a man. I can't forgive him for using racist language and even if I could, I would never be able to forget.

Other than having poor judgment as a man, there's also his absence of conviction he has as a senator. He plans on continuing this disastrous and unnecessary war until we "win" even though he hasn't defined what victory is. He's kissed the ring of the religious right, the same folks who he once referred to it as "Agents of intolerance" are now the people he's bending over for. Obama is getting criticized for not disowning his former pastor who he knows is ignorant and angry but also a decent man who has honorably served this country and his community. McCain? He's courting the Hagees, Robertsons, and Falwells of this country knowing that they are horrible men and that they all live for is spreading their heinous messages of hate and intolerance. I respect a man who stands by flawed yet good men because of genuine loyalty, respect, admiration and love instead of one that pursues terrible and repugnant men for his own political gain.

As a former prisoner of war, McCain actually voted against a bill that would ban torture even though he is against its use. As of right now, he still hasn't signed onto the new GI Bill. On top of all that, he supported well known racist George Wallace Jr. He's for abstinence only education and admitted to not knowing if condoms reduce the risk of contracting HIV/AIDS. So, he's against torture but he supports torturers and he's not racist but he uses racist language and supports racists. What a "maverick"..no wait, he's not. He's just another pandering prick that makes deals with extremists and then does the same with moderates when it's convenient for him. That's not being "reasonable" or "moderate", it's two-faced and I don't want that kind of man representing me and my country to the world.

As a minority, as a woman and as an American, I could never vote against myself and my country. And a vote for him, would be just that.
